There are some differences in performance between Y51 polishing rods of different diameters:


1. Mechanical properties 12:

Tensile strength: Generally speaking, the tensile strength of Y15 polished rods with a diameter of 8-20mm is 530-755MPa in the cold drawn state. When the diameter is 20-30mm, the cold-drawn tensile strength is 510-735MPa; the diameter is larger When the thickness is 30mm, the cold tensile strength is 490-685MPa. That is, as the diameter increases, the tensile strength in the cold drawn state tends to decrease.


Elongation and area shrinkage: in the hot-rolled state, the productivity is about ≥22%, and the area shrinkage is ≥36%. The difference in these two indicators between different diameters is not obvious, but in the cold-rolled state, the diameter is smaller The elongation of polished rods is relatively high, such as the cold rolling elongation of 8-20mm diameter ≥ 7.0%, while the elongation of large diameter rods may be slightly lower in the same state.


2. Processing performance:

Cutting performance: Generally speaking, the cutting performance of Y15 polishing rod is better, but during the cutting process of polishing rod with smaller diameter, due to its larger relative surface area, heat dissipation is faster, and the heat generated during cutting is more easily dissipated, so The cutting speed can be faster, and the wear of the props will be relatively smaller. A polishing rod with a larger diameter requires greater cutting force during cutting, which may cause it to wear relatively quickly, and generate more heat during the processing, requiring better cooling measures.


Cold working performance: Y15 polished rods with small diameters are more easily deformed during cold processing. For example, during cold drawing, cold bending and other processing processes, the required processing force is relatively small, and the required shape and dimensional accuracy can be more easily achieved. However, small-diameter polishing rods are also more prone to surface defects, such as scratches and cracks, during cold working. Large-diameter polished rods are more difficult to cold process and require greater equipment power and more complex processing techniques, but they have better dimensional stability after forming.


3. Surface quality:

Typically, Y15 polishing rods provide a good surface finish regardless of diameter. However, during the polishing process, the polishing rod with a smaller diameter has a larger surface curvature, which makes it easier to achieve high-precision surface processing, and the surface roughness can reach a lower value. For large-diameter polishing rods, it is relatively difficult to process to achieve the same surface roughness level, and the requirements for polishing equipment and processes are higher.


4. Wear resistance:

Wear resistance is related to the hardness, organizational structure and other factors of the material. Although the Y15 polishing rods are made of the same material, the different diameters may result in slight differences in their organizational structure during the production process. Generally speaking, polished rods with larger diameters may show better wear resistance during use.
