SUS440C stainless steel pipes are mainly used for manufacturing bearing parts that work in corrosive environments and strong oxidizing atmospheres without lubrication. 440C has good high-temperature dimensional stability, so it can also be used as a corrosion-resistant high-temperature bearing steel.
The characteristics of SUS440C stainless steel pipes:
High hardness: It belongs to high-carbon martensitic stainless steel. After heat treatment, the hardness can reach HRC58-62. It has a relatively high hardness among various stainless steel materials and can withstand large external forces and friction.
Good wear resistance: It contains 16.00%-18.00% chromium element and 0.75% molybdenum element, and has high corrosion resistance in a moderate environment, and can resist the erosion of chemical substances such as acids, alkalis and salts.
Strong wear resistance: The high carbon content and special metallographic structure endow it with excellent wear resistance, which can extend the service life and reduce wear and loss.
High strength: The tensile strength is ≥ 760MPa, and the yield strength is ≥ 450MPa. It can withstand large tensile and compressive forces and performs excellently in applications of structural support and bearing heavy loads.
The production process of SUS440C stainless steel pipes:
Smelting: Use equipment such as electric furnaces or converters for smelting. Put raw materials such as chromium, nickel, molybdenum, and carbon into the furnace according to a certain proportion, and make them fully fused through high-temperature smelting to form SUS440C stainless steel molten steel.
Hot working: Heat the smelted steel ingot to 1000-1050°C, and then carry out hot working processes such as forging and rolling to initially form it into a steel pipe blank, improve the internal structure and properties of the steel, and increase the density and compactness.
Cold working: Carry out cold working treatments such as cold drawing and cold rolling on the hot-worked steel pipe blank to further improve the dimensional accuracy and surface quality of the steel pipe, and at the same time increase the hardness and strength of the steel pipe.
Heat treatment: It includes quenching and tempering processes. When quenching, heat the steel pipe to 1000-1050°C, and then cool it in oil; tempering is carried out at a temperature of 200-300°C with air cooling to adjust the hardness and toughness of the steel pipe and obtain good comprehensive mechanical properties.
Surface treatment: In order to improve the corrosion resistance and aesthetics of the steel pipe, surface treatment processes such as polishing, wire drawing, and passivation can be carried out to make its surface smoother and more beautiful, and at the same time form a passivation film on the surface to enhance corrosion resistance.
