InstructionsHeat treatment: All austenitic stainless steels should be treated with carbide solution (special requirements for each grade). Class 1D (Class 1D) applies only to bars and wires and finished fasteners directly machined from Class 1D bars or wires without any subsequent hot or cold work. Class 1D (Class 1D) steel - Hot rolled or forged B8 bars should be cooled immediately after hot working at temperatures above 1759°F (955°C) to bring the intergranular carbide to a solid solution state. Class 1D shall be limited to temperatures below 850°F (455°C).
Material description: 304 is a typical low-carbon austenitic stainless steel, the grade is on the basis of 302 to further reduce the carbon content of the obtained, with good processing and molding properties and oxidation resistance, oxidation acid (such as nitric acid) has a strong corrosion resistance, alkali solution and most organic acids and inorganic acids also have a certain corrosion resistance. Intergranular corrosion resistance is better than 302 with higher carbon content, but it still has a tendency of intergranular corrosion when working in water and steam for a long time. The steel has good weldability. Austenitic stainless steel cannot be strengthened by heat treatment and can only be strengthened by work hardening.
Chemical properties: 304 has stable oxidation resistance in hot air below 900°C, and good corrosion resistance to nitric acid, sulfuric acid, acetic acid, oxalic acid and phosphoric acid. Intergranular corrosion damage may occur when parts work in corrosive medium, water or steam medium for a long time. In the state of solid solution, the arch constant variable sample is in 42% magnesium chloride boiling solution. Intergranular corrosion failure occurred at 31h.
Scope of application of this standard
This standard includes alloy steel and stainless steel bolting materials and bolting fittings for pressure vessels, valves, flanges and fittings for high temperature or high pressure equipment or for other special purposes. Bolted connections are defined in ASTM A962/A962M. The bar and wire shall be hot-rolled, and the material may be further processed by centerless grinding or cold drawing. Austenitic stainless steel can be strain hardened by carbide solution treatment or carbide solution treatment. When ordering strain-hardened austenitic steels, the buyer should take special care to ensure that the contents of Appendix X1 are fully understood.
