L605 cobalt based alloy (HAYNES25)

L605 cobalt based alloy (HAYNES25) is a solid solution strengthened cobalt-chromium-tungsten-nickel alloy, which has excellent high-temperature strength and good oxidation resistance.

Physical properties: The density is 9.17 g/cm³, the melting point is between 1330-1410 °C. It has a relatively low coefficient of thermal expansion, which is 13 micrometers per meter per °C in the temperature range of 21-93 °C, and the thermal conductivity is 9.4 W/m·°C.

Material characteristics:

Excellent high-temperature strength: It can maintain high strength in a high-temperature environment. For example, the tensile strength can still reach 400 MPa at 800 °C. It is suitable for manufacturing components that work at high temperatures, such as the combustion chambers and afterburners of gas turbine engines.

Good oxidation resistance: It has good oxidation resistance at temperatures up to 1800 °F (approximately 982 °C), and the stable oxide layer formed can prevent further oxidation. It can be used for a long time in a high-temperature oxidation environment, such as the high-temperature components of industrial furnaces.

Outstanding corrosion resistance: It is resistant to a variety of chemical oxidants, especially resistant to hydrochloric acid and nitric acid at certain concentrations and temperatures, and also has good resistance to salt spray corrosion. It is suitable for environments in contact with corrosive media, such as chemical processing equipment.

Wear resistance and anti-galling property: It has the characteristics of wear resistance and anti-galling, and can be used to manufacture components that are prone to wear, such as high-temperature ball bearings and bearing rings.

Main applications:

Aerospace field: It is used to manufacture components of gas turbine engines, such as combustion chambers, afterburners, turbine blades and turbine rings; it is also used to manufacture high-temperature ball bearings, bearing rings, springs and artificial heart valves.

Industrial field: It can be used in the key parts of land-based industrial gas turbines and industrial furnaces, such as the muffle devices and linings.

Other fields: It is also applied in fields such as chemical process equipment and nuclear power systems. By taking advantage of its excellent high-temperature corrosion resistance, it can meet the working requirements in highly corrosive environments and extreme temperature ranges.
